What are high-pressure polyethylene and low-pressure polyethylene?
What are high-pressure polyethylene and low-pressure polyethylene? How to distinguish?this is a problem we often meet. PE material is the most common plastic material we use now, from industry to agriculture, and then to civil, everywhere.
1.Polyethylene produced under high pressure is called high pressure high performance polyethylene or low density polyethylene( LDPE).
LDPE ,density is 0.91-0.93gm3, It is a soft, pliable, lightweight plastic material known for its low-temperature flexibility, toughness and corrosion resistance.
LDPE is non-toxic and tasteless, has good softness, extension properties, transparent properties and processing properties, good chemical stability, acid, alkali and salt resistance characteristics
ldpe because it has the characteristics of food grade and good toughness, it is often used in the packaging industry, such as beer, soda and other trays, food packaging bags ect.
2. what is low-pressure polyethylene?
Low-pressure polyethylene is High density polyethylene, Hdpe .
Hdpe ,density is 0.96 gm3, It is a thermoplastic resin with high crystallinity generated by ethylene copolymerization. It has the same characteristics as ldpe, such as good moisture resistance, no water absorption, low temperature resistance, non-toxic and tasteless food grade, electrical insulation and excellent chemical resistance.
Hdpe sheet is often used in food grade cutting board, outdoor signs, outdoor amusement facilities, hdpe ground mat,marine grade board, furniture use, etc., can also be used for various mechanical equipment parts, chemical industry ect.
3. How to distinguish?
(1) The density of the two materials is quite different
(2) The raw material of hdpe is milky white, and the transparency of ldpe is a little higher
(3) The hardness of hdpe is slightly higher than that of ldpe
(4) ldpe toughness is a little better than hdpe
(5) ldpe flexibility is a little better
